Welcome once again to Shelf Porn, where we help fans show off their stuff. Today’s shelves belong to artist Tom Krohne, who shows off his collection of action figures and comics.

Just a sampling of my collection, most is in storage for space purposes. Photos include my Godzilla collection with some of my Gorgo comic collection in the background, the comics act as a border all the way around the room.
A photo of my JLU figure collection including my prized Solomon Grundy and Lobo figures along with a Darkseid from the Superman Animated Series line and Man Bat from the Batman line as I feel these two figures are better representations of the characters. They may look random on the shelves but there is a method to the madness – the Dom Patrol is all together, The Bwa Ha Ha version of the League is together, the Super Friends characters are together, the JLU version of the Defenders (Dr Fate, Grundy, Aquaman and Amazo) are together and the team formed in the Blue Devil annual (Blue Devil, Etrigan, Man Bat, Zatanna, the Creeper and the Question as a stand in for the Phantom Stranger) are together.
The next wall consist of three sections, the first has my 12″ Sideshow Universal Monsters, Movie Maniacs and Monster Super Heroes. The Middle section is the biggest and most crowded. Top shelf are McFarlane Monster playsets, The CVS Universal Monster Beanies, The Universal Monster Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mezco’s Wolf Man figure, Repro Mego Monsters (my originals needs new rubber bands), Mezco’s Mez Its Monsters in the limited Chiller Theatre colors, the new retro Wolf Man Mego style figure, The Creature from the Diamond Toys R’ Us line, the Monster Squad Monsters, Burger King Universal Monsters toys, Remco Mini Monsters figures and Set 2 of SD Toys Monster Theatre PVC figures. The Last Section is Mezco’s Silent Screamers, Horror Props and Sideshow’s 12″ Nosferatu and London After Midnight figures.

love all that Godzilla stuff. and also how you have the jlu separated in incarnations. plus the universal monsters add a nice touch .
JamieMarch 26, 2011 at 2:55 pmNice collection. I really like the Universal Monsters on display – makes me regret not picking up that Frankenstein when I had the chance! Love the Man-Thing (got one myself!) and other Marvel figures – which makes me think you need at least one or two “Adventures into Fear,” and “Creatures on the Loose,” comics up on the shelf like the other excellent ones!

Also, since when did Gorgo have a comic book? I’ve only seen the movie.

Tom KrohneMarch 27, 2011 at 3:39 pmJamie – No Adventures into Fear issues but the Creatures on the Loose issues are on another wall, the fourth wall of the room is all Where Monsters Dwell.
Chad – The Ghost Rider is from the Marvel Legends line, I be;ieve he was called Ghost Rider 2 in their line up, but he is supposed to be the Johnny Blaze version. Morbius is from one of the last Spider Man lines prior to the Marvel Legends start, I think the line also had Swarm, the Tarantula, the Demo Goblin and Venom in it
Acer – Only four in the Burger King line, the Jack in the Box toys had six toys. Gorgo’s book ran in the 60′s from Charlton Comics with the first several issues drawn by Steve Ditko
CapCanuckMarch 27, 2011 at 4:36 pmI had a decent JLU collection but sold it to make way for other stuff. I found they were a bugger to keep standing, so I resorted to using sticky tac on the bottom of their feet. I think all of the JLU figures should come with the little base that the female characters come with…Actually, I wish all action figures came with a base to help them stand up on thier own…
ANYWAY, nice clean and organized collection and not too overdone. Good to have a ‘comic border’ around your room too! We see a lot of toys, graphic novels in SP, but not a lot of actual comics!
And Tom, who would win in a brawl? Godzila or Fing Fang Foom?
