Shelf Porn Saturday

Welcome to Shelf Porn, where fans show us their stuff. Today’s collection of statues, toys and other stuff comes courtesy of Ian Walker from Poole, England.

If you’d like to see your collection featured here, just send a brief write-ups and some jpgs to jkparkin@yahoo.com.

And now here’s Ian …

*****

My name is Ian Walker and I live in Poole, England and I’ve been collecting comics since 1975 with a little break in between to get to know girls.

As you can see I have quite a few toys and statues and a ever growing comic collection that is unstoppable as I collect 81 ongoing titles and that doesn’t even bring into account how many mini series and one shots I buy every month as well plus all the other stuff I pick up from time to time.

I’d like to give a shout out to Andy who owns the comic shop I go to,it’s mostly his fault I have all this stuff [he has a good sales pitch and I always fall for it]. And as you can see it’s all housed in my comic room that my very understanding wife Lara let me have.

I enjoy a well balanced room of cool stuff as well as books. Nice.

Great collection! It’s cool to see that you enjoy Marvel and DC at the same time.

Congrats!

I loved seeing the Conan stuff intermixed. A local store has those Belit, Zula, and Conan statues and I do want them… Very nice set up.

I like the Conan statue on the horse – with his arms and legs outstretched it’s like he’s going, “Wheeeee!!” while beheading someone.

Nice collection. I like the statues a lot (too bad I can’t afford them), and I have a lot of similar toys in my collection. I’m a big fan of the DC 13inch series as well.

Wow. Now THAT’S how I’d like to display (and somewhat store) most of my collection. How did you plan this all out?? Please, don’t skip on any details, I’m serious.

Awesome collection! Im worried about displaying my statues out on the open like that since i live in northern california where theres a chance of earthquakes. Love the fact you have a room for your collection as well.

81 ONGOING TITLES? Holy Crap! Plus all that stuff? Dude, you must have a wicked good job!
I will say this, this is a very well put together room. You can tell a lot of time and effort went into making it so neat and tidy. By far one of the better organized rooms we have seen here. Very nice work!

What a great room to store your collection!

I am envious of both the collection and the crazy amount of disposable income!

Are your trades & hardcovers bagged? Why?

ZabbaJune 12, 2011 at 3:16 am

Very nice! How much?

JamieJune 12, 2011 at 6:48 am

@ Matt.

I don’t know why Ian bags his hardcovers. However, I bag my tradepaperbacks/ harcovers etc to stop dust getting on them, as well as to prevent the paper from aging prematurely, (not to mention the risk of unexpected water damage). Sure, they’re not collectable like my original comics but I like to keep everything as near-mint and in good condition as possible. It’s not hard to take them out to read them and then put them back again anyway

I love how clean and well organized this huge library of comic books and figures is. Awesome!

wow. just wow. that, sir, is utterly impressive. i drool in absolute envy. the trade collections are incredible. and your choice in kentucky bourbons is equally good. the only two things i see missing are a bottle of buffalo trace white dog #1 and one of maker’s mark 46. (i might also recommend my favorite this month – evan williams / single barrel reserve. VERY smooth. but i have to take away a quarter point for the jack daniel’s due to the tennessee/kentucky rivalry. you know how it is.) thanks for the look into your stuff!
